Anoka’s Trip To State Is A Tribute To Fallen Player (Full Story w/Video Here)
ANOKA, Minn. (WCCO) — From a 2-6 record last season to a state tournament berth this year.
The Anoka football team has had an improbable turnaround. But if you ask the players, there was a lot more to the team’s success than just hard work. The team believes they got a little help from above.

ANOKA, Minn. – It’s been a special season for the Anoka Tornadoes.
“We cheer with some extra passion this year,” says senior Katie Johnson. “I don’t think there’s been a class that’s been this close.”
The 8-1 record and a top-seed in Section 7 have helped to make this fall a memorable one, but the spirit in the stands and on the sideline goes deeper than football.
“We’ve made this season about Dylan,” says senior Katlyn Foley.
Fundraiser Honors Former Anoka High School Football Player (Full Story w/Video Here)
Family and friends of a north metro football player who lost his battle against brain cancer held a fundraiser in his honor Sunday.
Dylan Witschen died last year at 16-years-old, but his memory is inspiring people to take action to cure childhood cancer. Half of the money raised at a today brunch in Maple Grove will go to the Dylan Witschen Foundation.
His family said they hope Dylan can see the progress they’re making. “We are continuing on with what you wanted. and we will find a cure for cancer, so no child has to go through this,” says Dylan’s aunt Denise Webster.

The Anoka High School football team honored someone they call their “good luck charm” Friday night.
Former player Dylan Witschen died from brain cancer last year. Teammates and coaches say Witschen lived life to the fullest, made friends with everyone, and always kept a smile on his face.
