Our Mission

 

The Dylan Witschen Foundation has been created to celebrate and honor the life of Dylan Witschen. Motivated by Dylan's passion for life and love of sports, the mission of this foundation is to support his dreams and maintain his legacy by providing scholarships for local college bound students. 

 

Along with Dylan's hopes for finding a cure for cancer, funds will also be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and other like institutions dedicated to finding a cure for cancer.

4th Annual Give Thanks, Walk for St. Jude (Full Story w/Video Here)

In a couple of weeks, a number of your friends and neighbors will be walking to help fight childhood cancer. The fourth annual Give Thanks, Walk for St. Jude will be happening at Southdale Mall. Joining us to talk about why this walk is so important is a family that's been touched by childhood cancer right here in the metro, Ed and Debbie Witschen. Once again, FOX 9’s Tom Butler will have the honor of emceeing the event. The 4th annual give thanks walk for St. Jude is November 19 at Southdale Mall in Edina. Registration is at 7 p.m. The walk gets going at 8 p.m.

Remembering Dylan

(Message from the Witschen Family)

Hi Everyone, I thought the subject line would be something everyone would want to know more about.

 
It's hard to believe Dylan passed away 16 months ago.  At times it feels like he has been in heaven for months and other times it feels like this is just a bad dream.  We have done our best as family and friends to keep his legacy alive through everyday conversation and more formally the work we have done with the Dylan Witschen Foundation.
 
Dylan had two statements he shared with us often as we talked about him going to heaven.
1.  Please take care of each other and be kind to everyone!!  Don't cry over me being in heaven but remember me!!!
2.  Please continue to raise money to find a cure for childhood cancer!!
 
We are trying our very best regarding both statements!  The second has been a bit easier than the first. 
 
This year on Nov 19th, the 4th annual Give Thanks Walk for St. Jude will take place on Dylan's Birthday!  Two years ago Dylan was able to kick off the walk with a wonderful and inspirational speech.  We were all so proud of him knowing just days prior his cancer had returned and his prognosis was not good.  Instead of being down and out he wanted to motivate everyone around him to make a difference in the life of a sick child.  He did just that by telling his story and asking all of us to walk in honor of someone.

We have a very LOFTY goal this year for a very good reason.  Dylan's Birthday!!! 
 
It would be wonderful if each one of you could ask one person who may not be familiar with all the great work St. Jude does and ask for their support.  Spreading the word and raising money will lead to better success rates and ultimately a cure just like Dylan wanted!
